How many credit hours constitute half time enrollment at Oklahoma City Community College (OCCC)?
I know different schools have different ways of figuring it but I was hoping someone that attended the college would be able to help me answer this question. Thanks

Actually they go off student aid. Because thats who pays them generally.. so anything under 12 credit hours is considered half or part time. With federal student aid, you are required to complete 75% of the credit hours. With love through Christ Jesus, Dusty

How can I home school my kids?

How can I home school my kids?
I am a Christian and a single mom. I am divorced - it was Biblical, but not going into that because it's not about the question. Anyway, I am a kindergarten teacher and so you probably know what my salary is. How can I stay home and home school my kids and make a living? School is getting so bad. I wrote a question last night about my 3rd grade daughter being sexually harassed. I know it's just going to get worse. There is a home school coop here. It's a great program. I thought about waiting to look at this option when they are in high school (grades 3 and 4, now). I have a friend whose daughter was being bullied so much, she took her out of school. Now, she has all her classes online through Oklahoma City schools (even though we don't live there). They supplied the computer, books, and instructors for free. Now, how can I make a living? Any ideas? ** I don't want to hear any negative things about home schooling like lack of socialization. The question is about MY work problem. We don't have a christian school here. If someone ever opens one up, I will be the first in line applying for a job.

2 :
I don't think everyone should homeschool - especially given your circumstances. Since you are a single mom you will need to provide for your kids materially if your ex is not providing enough. You may want to ask for financial aid to enroll your kids in a private Christian school.
3 :
Get a job. Work nights if you have to.
4 :
You could home school them and maybe work for the co-op or tutor other students.
5 :
You might be able to get government assistance. Depends where you live Move to New Zealand! Anyway, look into that
6 :
See if you can get hired by the co-op to teach some classes. Hire yourself out as a tutor. And, unfortunately you might have to accept the fact that you might not be able to do it, financially. Have you considered other options as well, such as going to work in a private school and enrolling your own children there(many have tuition breaks for their teachers' kids). Maybe that would be a good compromise.
7 :
If you are single and working, perhaps seek out other families to see if you can find one or two that will take your children while you work. I live in Jackson Mississippi and there is a large network of homeschooling parents who help each other.
8 :
Being a mom is a full time job. Then you put home schooling on top of that and you have 2 full time jobs. To try and make a living to support your family on top of all of that and ensure that your kids will get a proper education is a lot to handle. You say you're a Christian, so I'm sure you have faith in God's ability to handle your childrens education in a public school. I am a Christian as well, and don't love the idea of keeping my kids in public school, but that the choice we've made. It's in God's hands everyday. Your kids are going to be faced with the secular world throughout their entire lives. If I were you, I'd focus on teaching them how to stand strong in the name of Jesus in the world we live in, and keep them in school. Besides, how can your kids minister to other children in school if you separate them from their peers?
9 :
work nights if you have to. but you should give this a lot more thought because you still have children to support.
10 :
Since you are a teacher with credentials and training, why not try to get a job at a Christian school where you can also put your children. Surely they will give you a discount on the tuition and you will still have a salary.
11 :
Try the homeschooling section, it's under education. There are parents who have to work, and do the homeschooling during their off-time. I'm thinking your kids are 7-9? Which would make it difficult as to where they are going to be while you're at work more than anything... I would suggest looking into a co-op or Christian charter school for the time being. Contact your local schools, homeschooling groups, and find out what laws there are and maybe you'll find out some more options. Do supplemental teaching, sunday-school classes (and whatever you can get them into), in the meantime. Once they're about 12 you can leave them home alone while you're at work, and then come home and do any teaching that needs to be done.
12 :
Suzi, I feel your frustration! I never did homeschool my own children but I have lots and lots of friends who have. Some business ideas you could do in your own home... Rent out a downstairs to a college kid or two Medical transcription (about a 2 year on-line course) Catering (you'd have to have a partner to deliver) Language Translation (if you know any language very well) English-As-A-Second Language coach to adults or children Reading Tutor... have children come to your home like a piano teacher would Piano teacher (or teach any musical instrument) or something newer in the area of working-at-home... Get all the digital and printed pictures of clients; use Photoshop Elements to enhance lighting / crop / take out excess annoying background people & items; Then organize all their digital photos into folders for easier access.... organize by people, date, or place. You could even organize an "oops" folder for those crazy shots. Then, you'd put them on a DVD and give them back to the owners. You could probably charge like .10 per photo to enhance and organize their photos. This is such a new service! I'm sure if most people are like me, they would have thousands of photos to enhance and organize. Good luck! Your kids are blessed to have you for a mom!
13 :
I do hope and pray for the best for you and your family!!! Is it possible to get an online job for yourself? I don't know what you might be qualified for. Another suggestion is that you home-school several other children as well as your daughter and charge the parents for this. There are also home schools in churches where there are teachers and assistants and this might work better---you'd have to think also about where the kids are going to go when school is over and the parents are taking a long time to get home from work, but the one at a church (or someone's basement or large house, etc) might have a good solution.
14 :
I have a friend who was a single mom of four and homeschooled. She worked lots of nights and was tired alot. But her kids grew up fine and got the homeschooled education they needed. It was hard on her, but they got through it. Anything worth having is worth the hard work. As they get older, it gets easier, because they can independently study more. I use A.C.E curriculum. I have three I am homeschooling, and work part time. I'm blessed to have a husband who works hard.

Talihina, Oklahoma is the Village between the mountains, with the Kiamichi Mountains to the South and the Winding Stair Mountains to the North and the Potato Hills to the west. Talihina is also known as the Gateway to the Beautiful Talimena Scenic Drive and the Quachita National Forest.

Southeast Oklahoma between Poteau and Broken Bow has the Ouachita Mountains, they are the largest range in the state. Others like the Arbuckles and Wichita Mountains are more like big hills.

well my mums family lives there. It's very flat and they have Buffaloes...they have a really cool mall though.
3 :
The reason I even took the time to look at this question is how you totally have horrible english in the title.
4 :
Well they have this weird language quirk there...in Oklahoma City they always use the word "What" where other people would use the word "How". It's really hard to get used to to....like instead of saying, "How is your name?"...in Oklahoma City they would say "What".
5 :
I used to live there. It is pretty great. I only went to 1st and 2nd grade there, but school was okay. The climate was great. Hot in the summer, cold in the winter, how I think it should be. It snows a couple of inches in the winter. You should be fine.
6 :
I DONT KNOW IM FROM MELBOURNE AUS FROM WHAT I HAVE SEEN ON LIKE CNN AND YANKEE NEWS PROGRAMS YOUR HOUSE WILL GET RIPPED UP BY A TORNADO
7 :
its nice. they have great schools. the level of education is high. people there are very friendly and you should be able to make a lot of friends. the housing is good. there are up scale neighborhoods in the outer cities(ie moore). the climate is extremely hot and humid. expect to roast(the thermometer may not read high but its the humidity).hope this helps
8 :
You will find the climate and geography radically different from what you've known. The land is flat and the horizon seems to go on forever--it is part of the Great Plains. And the wind DOES come "sweeping down the plain." I spent six weeks during the summer (and there it's SUMMER) in OK and visited OK City more than once. On my first trip in July it was 104%, shade was as scarce as hen's teeth downtown, and the wind was 60 m.p.h. I stepped out of an air-conditioned building and the sweat popped out on me like silver bullets, and then I stepped out of the entrance foyer. The humidity was about 11%, and that wind scoured the perspiration off me in less than three seconds. But the state has a very interesting history (I was even given a Cherokee name!), the people are very down-to-earth and friendly, and as the state capital the city is more sophisticated than you might think--right down to an NBA team. I know little about secondary schools, but the universities are much better than respectable. You'll have a chance to be yourself amid unpretentious and good people. But tornadoes ARE a fact of life there.

Remember "besol-ball" in Oklahoma City?
I'm from Oklahoma City. When I was in like 2nd grade (1989), our school went to a local mall (I believe Penn Square Mall). We played a baseball type game with words. We spelled a word or gave its definition or something. If we were right we advanced to first base. Can ANYONE remember this game? What was it called?

What is life like in Oklahoma? Specifically the Oklahoma City/Norman area?

What is life like in Oklahoma? Specifically the Oklahoma City/Norman area?
I am considering returning to college for a very specific major, and the University of Oklahoma specializes in it. (OK, it is meteorology) I have also investigated Penn State, which is closer to my area and also has a solid meteorology program. However, I want to be in an atmosphere where I can experience some actual severe weather and perhaps participate in tornado research projects. The thing is, I live in PA and have never visited Oklahoma or any of the midwestern states. I have researched the school's reputation and some information on living in Oklahoma - but I am interested in some real substantive, nonbiased information on daily life in OK. Where can I find cultural activities in central Oklahoma? Are there interesting attractions to visit in the area? Also, I would appreciate it if only those who currently live or have lived for a period of at least a year in OK would answer this question. Out of curiosity, how often did your area of Oklahoma experience tornado warnings and/or actual tornadoes? Aside from the tornadoes and severe weather during the spring and fall, what was your opinion of the area's climate? Thank you for your help with this potentially life-altering decision.

Where should I move: San Antonio, Fort Worth, Tulsa, Oklahoma City, Atlanta, or Jackson, MS? Why?
These are the urban areas in which I'm considering law school. Which of these do you prefer, not prefer, and why? If you choose to get even more specific: -You can rank the cities -You can give a little inside info about the cities Given the strength of the particular law schools, the regional markets for lawyers, proximity to other great metro areas, and general friendliness of the people, this is my list so far: 1. !. OKC 2. Tulsa 3. Atlanta 4. Fort Worth 5. San Antonio 6. Jackson I chose OKC because I have been there and the people are wonderful. The housing market is great, schools are a number 1 point of interest to them, taxes are low, there are many things to do, crime is relatively low, and, after the bombing, they all really pulled together just like a community should. I know the hospitals are great because of the sports medicine hospital McBride's, and their heart hospital. I'm thinking of relocating there myself. The rest of your choices are ok, but I wouldn't like the heat in the summer time. Good Luck. :)

It depends on what kind of bike you have. If it is closer to a motorcycle, you have to get a motorcycle license. If it is closer to a bicycle, you don't have to get one. Technically, the rule is anything with a motor, including a mo-ped, must be licensed. Therefore, it is important to know exactly how your specific model is classified. This information is usually available through the seller. And sorry, you have to go to an actual place in person to get your license for this. (Again, this depends on what it is you are driving for certain.)

I live in NJ and planning to move to OK city for a job in University of Oklahoma Health Science Center that is located at 975 N.E. 10th street. I have no idea about the OK city, the only few things I heard that people are friendly, cost of living is cheaper and the real estate is also affordable. I have kids going to school (Elementary), thus I need to find a good school district too. Also, when I talk about moving to OK, people here scaring me that the schools are not really as good as in NJ or any other NE states. Again, I have no idea....unless someone out there who lived in NE states and moved to OK would tell me what exactly the schools are in OK and good school districts around OK city. I teach massage in Texas, where you do have to have your license. Call or Google the OK State Department of Health to find out what their requirements are. Some counties and cities even have their own rules. Beware of local massage therapists who will turn you in to the state for operating without a license. Texas is a very competitive market, and my students have told me stories about "clients" who turned out to be students from local massage schools. When my students mentioned they didn't have their license yet because they were waiting to take the state exam, they were turned in to the state. People can be mean.
2 :
They didn't teach you that in school!? Well according to my review book it says OK has NO regulations for Massage Therapist. So i guess that means you don't have to be licensed. If you plan on moving i'd suggest taking the National Exam so that you'll be nationally certified. I live in FL and you have to be licensed here so im due to take the exam next month. Email me if you have anymore questions.
3 :
http://www.massageregister.com/staterequirements.asp#Ohio This is a good resource website to get a profile of state licensing requirements for massage therapy. (I know the link says Ohio, but Oklahoma is on the same page). As the blurb says, even though state credentialing is not required, you may need to satisfy county or municipal regulations in order to practice in different areas of the state. You probably want to check out this site to see if you can contact someone with the county health department. http://www.cchdoc.com/

If the computers are Internet connected, you will rarely find guest accounts since the school is responsible for linking activity to an actual user. In other words, it would be irresponsible and a potential liability for a school to allow guest accounts.

Greyhound restricts teens under 15 to trips of 5 hours or less and there must not be any change of buses. See site below. that trip would be 20 to 22 hours long with several transfers...so you would not be able to do that.

Where should I move: San Antonio, Fort Worth, Tulsa, Oklahoma City, or Atlanta? Why?

Where should I move: San Antonio, Fort Worth, Tulsa, Oklahoma City, or Atlanta?
Top choice - San Antonio: culture, weather, proximity to Austin 2. Fort Worth: nice city, lower humidity, proximity to Dallas 3. Atlanta: fastest-growing metro in the SE, beautiful area 4. (tie) Oklahoma City, Tulsa: Oklahoma is nice, steadily growing, benefits from proximity to Texas I want to attend school in a much friendlier and warmer climate than my current state of Kentucky. Thank you!

I would go with the top choice, San Antonio. It has it all except it is not tidal.
4 :
I'd move to Atlanta because the biggest aquarium in the world is there. [or says my auntie] Thats not a good reason, but it sounds really fun to go see.
5 :
Hotlanta
6 :
Tulsa, because it`s not Texas, and has a cool Castle Renfaire. Atlanta,It also is not Texas, and has more cultural events, Stone Mountain Highland Games Georgia Renaissance Faire Friendly People
7 :
I'd go with San Antone too. I met some women from there and all they could talk about was home and all the stuff they have to do there; good food, great nightlife, cool sports. Ft. Worth has a lot of military so there'll probably be lots of chain stuff but still plenty to do. My dad was stationed there in the early 80's, he liked it, mom hated it, I don't remember it Atlanta has lots of traffic, like all the time. But I agree that Georgia is beautiful. The weather won't be as great as TX. I've been to Tulsa, not impressed. People are nice but that's the only up I see.
8 :
I am a native Texan so..... I would say Fort Worth, Atlanta, San Antonio, then Oklahoma City, then Tulsa People in Fort Worth are very friendly, much more so than in Dallas...and the cultural centers are "off the chain"....Are you considering TCU law school (do they have one)? Well SMU in Dallas is more prestigious I think, but you can still use the library in Dallas and the other great libraries Dallas has... Atlanta...so much to say....people are materialistic there (but aren't most people these days) but it is a REAL city...not quite New York, London, or Munich but great.... San Antonio..wow...you want to be close to Austin? I despised Austin and have many many relatives there...great shopping and cultural scene but other than that it sucked like a vacuum... San Antonio is worse....I go for the Riverwalk (but I have seen better all around the world) and Sea World, but that is about it...maybe shopping there and in San Marcos Ah Oklahoma.....again, I am a Texan so well, I am biased......but if you live in Kentucky (beautiful state, I have relatives there too) then you can live in Oklahoma Don't just consider the cities the schools are in but the professors, the reputation, the education you will be receiving, what you want to do after law school, where you can make contacts, become a clerk, etc. Good luck.

you need HS diploma
2 :
It depends on the department. Some police departments only require applicants to have a high school diploma or ged. Some police departments require applicants to have a certain amount of college credits (30 or 60 for example) or a 2 year degree. Some police departments require applicants to have a 4 year degree. Check with the police departments that you are interested in working for. If you want to become a police officer, you should get a 4 year degree. Many of the departments that don't require applicants to have a degree prefer them to. Having a degree can help you get hired. Some departments pay their officers more if they have a degree. Having a degree can also help you get promoted during your career. Best of luck!

Could you do better than an Oklahoma H.S. student on the U.S. citizenship test?

Could you do better than an Oklahoma H.S. student on the U.S. citizenship test?
75 Percent of Oklahoma High School Students Can't Name the First President of the U.S. Posted: Sep 16, 2009 10:17 AM PDT Updated: Sep 17, 2009 8:30 AM PDT Oklahoma Students Score Low on Basic Civic Questions A majority of Oklahoma high school students could not name Washington as the nation's first president in a recent survey.News9.com OKLAHOMA CITY -- Only one in four Oklahoma public high school students can name the first President of the United States, according to a survey released today. The survey was commissioned by the Oklahoma Council of Public Affairs in observance of Constitution Day on Thursday. Brandon Dutcher is with the conservative think tank and said the group wanted to find out how much civic knowledge Oklahoma high school students know. The Oklahoma City-based think tank enlisted national research firm, Strategic Vision, to access students' basic civic knowledge. "They're questions taken from the actual exam that you have to take to become a U.S. citizen," Dutcher said. A thousand students were given 10 questions drawn from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services item bank. Candidates for U.S. citizenship must answer six questions correctly in order to become citizens. About 92 percent of the people who take the citizenship test pass on their first try, according to immigration service data. However, Oklahoma students did not fare as well. Only about 3 percent of the students surveyed would have passed the citizenship test. Dutcher said this is not just a problem in Oklahoma. He said Arizona had similar results, which left him concerned for the entire country. "Jefferson later said that a nation can't expect to be ignorant and free," Dutcher said. "It points to a real serious problem. We're not going to remain ignorant and free." Question % of Students Who Answered Correctly What is the supreme law of the land? 28 What do we call the first ten amendments to the Constitution? 26 What are the two parts of the U.S. Congress? 27 How many justices are there on the Supreme Court? 10 Who wrote the Declaration of Independence? 14 What ocean is on the east coast of the United States? 61 What are the two major political parities in the United States? 43 We elect a U.S. senator for how many years? 11 Who was the first President of the United States? 23 Who is in charge of the executive branch? 29 EDIT: T Acorn=Ob, from another answer. I happened to stumbel upon the stats for OK., since the advent of the Bush policy of No Child Left Behind I am sure this is nationwide. The fact is that teachers are teaching to test now and much of the traditional curriculum has been left by the wayside.
9 :
This isn't a matter of political ideology, this is a matter of having a basic understanding of your government, and those figures, if accurate, are appalling. Every high school student should know the answer to all of those questions. Have our school districts become that lax on education that we have students who can't answer those questions? They are easy questions. If they can't teach something that easy, how badly are they doing in the areas of reading, writing, science, and math?

I think the journey will last 9-10 hours.Check the link below :)
2 :
A connecting flight to... let's say Berlin to Oklahoma City. First flight to (example) Newark: 9 hours 10 min. And then another 3 hours and 37 minutes to get to destination. Price: Will vary depending on the season...But I checked for 15 june-15 july, and it's about 485 euros in my system.
3 :
I am afraid it lasts longer because you have one or two stops. Furthermore, there is a time difference between both places. On may 8,flight to Berlin from Oklahoma City (1stop in NewYork) lasts 17h50 (incl stop). Furthermore , there is currently a 7 hour difference between both places ( when it is 1 pm in Oklahoma, it is already 8 pm in Berlin). Since your flight leaves Oklahoma at 7h15 am, you get to Berlin at 8h05 am the following day . This is 24h50 later (= flight 17h50 + time difference 7h). When you come back to Oklahoma, flight and stop last 18h30. You leave berlin (for instance on May 13) at 9h35 am and get to Oklahoma at 9h05 pm the sam day . This means 11h30 later (flight 18h20 minus time difference7h). You may find some flights which last about 13h30 or 15h30 (incl. stop) because they have shorter stops. Prices are about 620$ for return ticket. Check it by yourself with one or 2 booking sites listed here: http://www.willgoto.com/1/023798/liens.aspx

March prices are jacked up every year due to trips like your son's, spring break and Easter (although I never know when Easter is). Tuesdays will be cheaper, which trips like these don't usually travel on. So you can get it for $200, but... Tuesday-Th 3/15-3/17 $209 at Priceline.
2 :
Check into flying to Tulsa instead. It's about 90 mins North of OKC. Dallas is about 3 hours south. You might be able to find cheaper flights.

They are both considered tier 4 law schools, so from an employer's perspective, they are about the same. But as a graduate of a tier 4 law school, I can tell you, law school, like life, is more about dedication and persistence, not what it looks like on the outside.
3 :
if your an okie resident, go to ocu, either way, the tuition is probably cheaper in okla. which is better, it depends on the student. if your a great student and a great person, it really doesn't matter what school you go to, to a point. ten years after grad. it makes absolutely no difference.
4 :
Don't do it!!! Don't go to law school!!!!! It sucks, it is expensive, and, unless you like reading material 24/7 that is so indecipherable that you need other books just to help you understand what you are reading (i.e. your textbooks), having only one test determine your entire grade in any given course, and going to school with cocky d*cks, don't go. And most lawyers don't make very much money, contrary to popular belief, unless they work in some big firm in a cubicle (spending upwards of 80 or 90 hours at the office per week). I am telling you, find another profession!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What job openings are there in nonprofit organizations in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma?

What job openings are there in nonprofit organizations in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma?
I am a speech pathologist with 22 years of experience looking to leave school based speech pathology and work in a different position. I am looking at possibly getting a Doctor of Ministry in Children and Poverty. I have worked with poverty level students for the last 15 years and love working with this population. I would love to work with this population in a different area other than the schools and it does not have to do with speech pathology if the job requires something different.

HI Alexis, You say nicest cheapest. You are going to think I am delusional, but if you have a Salvation Army in your area... why not spend a few days looking through what they have. My daugher has found and wears: Limited Arden B Cache Old Navy Express Gap Guess American Eagle Abercrombie Aeropostle Lucky Jeans 7 For All Mankind BeBe XOXO Forever 21 Versace Armani Baby PHat Among others. She only buys the clothes that look practically new. The most she spends on anything is $6.00. You can go into a Salvation Army with $200.00 and come out with more clothes than will fit in your closet. Not everything there is old, torn, or holey. Somethings are new to nearly new... and why not get the bargains where you can? What she gets is nicer than the clothes at Sears, JC Penney, WalMart or KMart... for sure. Other than that.... I hear that Old Navy is popular with high school kids as well. Why not go in and take a look... You will also have to take your lunch, as there is lots of clothes to look through. Thanks for reading. :)) PS: I should have mentioned that she is a model and does print work and commercials in Texas. It is not like she cannot afford to buy clothes at the retail stores, but she would rather spend $6.00 for a nice pair of jeans than $65.00. She spends her money on other things she wants.

Controllers -Must you get the job right after Oklahoma City?

Controllers -Must you get the job right after Oklahoma City?
I recently asked a question about going back to school for something else after getting out of the CTI program and wondered if I should do that before or after Oklahoma City. Someone said go to Oklahoma City right away and go back to school after. I was wondering if that's even possible - Can you graduate from the Academy and not accept a job somewhere as a controller right away? And when you decide to get the job later, would you have to go through training all over again?

No u don've to its just depend if ur work place have Sim or they can give u OJTI to know about Local knowledge n procedures

When you are sent to OKC, you've been hired and are on the FAA payroll. It's not like going to college where you're on your own nickle. I've never heard of anyone completing training at OKC and then going off to do something else. AFAIK, you'd have to resign and take the chance of not being hired back. If you're determined to get additional schooling, either wait till you are certified at your duty station and then attend school part time, or complete whatever schooling you need and then apply for your ATC position.
3 :
In order to go to Ok City you have already been offered and accepted a position. You can't just not go to your facility, basically quitting, after completing your training at OK City and expect to ever be rehired by the FAA. You could go to school part time after completing your training at your facility. Lots of controllers do that.
4 :
I'm sorry if I was the one who confused you. Once you're in Ok City, you've already got a job slot. The FAA will actually call you once you've graduated the CTI program..or up to a couple months before. It is said that you can turn down facilities up to two times..IE the first two choices or places they would like you to go you can turn down. But once they call you up a third time with the name of a facility, you'd best take it. They are not required to call you back at all, not even a second time. But three would be a fair number. When the FAA purchases your plane ticket to Ok City, it is kind of a round trip ticket; your final destination will be in the vicinity of your facility. What I meant by going back to school later was this: once you have your job, do evening school/classes/training or whatever it is you want to do. The FAA understands the importance of an education, especially higher education. Hope I haven't confused you further :)

Oklahoma City public schools, Who decides what is appropriate?

Oklahoma City public schools, Who decides what is appropriate?
My daughter is transitioning into an Oklahoma City public school out Sooner Start. What I am trying to figure out is who decides what is appropriate for my child? If the school decides then I guess I need a better definition then the one that in the dictionary. I was gave 3 schools to look at and I choose the one that is not the closest to my home because I felt it is more appropriate for my child. The one that is closest to my home has some problems and that is why I did not go with it. Well according to Oklahoma State law they district must reimburse you gas mileage if they can not provide transportation to and from the school that is closest to you if they cannot. How ever you can choose another school if it can provide the care and programs your child needs. Which is what I did. Now they are not wanting to reimburse me the mileage as they feel the school closest to me is appropriate enough. Even though as a parent you gave me 3 chooses so shouldn't that mean I can be the one to decide what is better for my child? Now please understand I do have the Policy and Procedure Manual for Special Needs Education in Oklahoma, so please don't message me with go read it. Because it all boils back to Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE). If you need more info just let me know. THANK YOU

If you can show just cause then you have a good chance at winning here. Federal law(IDEA) trumps state laws every time because that is where they get there funding. So you have to write them a letter stating what accommodation you are needing and why. You should also state that you were given choices per the federal law as to which school would be able to provide an APPROPRIATE education for your child. I would go on to state the differences in the two school and why the closer school is not an appropriate choice for her educational needs and goals. All communication with your district should be in writing so you have a record. Every correspondence you have with the district through this process you should make a copy of. You should also put on the bottom of each letter cc: file so the district knows you are keeping them and they tend to take you a little more seriously then! Also you may need the services of an educational advocate. You will want to go to the Oklahoma Family Network who can match you with an advocate. Their site is below.

Central time zone. If you are trying to set the clock on a computer, pick the closet big town to you.
2 :
depends on if it's an elementary school, high school, or middle school. I live in OKC and ours go off (i think) between 8-9 in the morning, and 2-3 in the afternoon. Each is programmed for the school it's for tho, so times vary.

That is pretty sad. Oklahoma is also the most Republican state in the nation.
2 :
Government schools at work. You think kids have gotten smarter since the Worthless One Jimmy Carter instituted the Department of Education? Not! Leftist indoctrination.
3 :
It says a lot about public education in this country, none of it good. Perhaps history should be a more important subject than sex-ed.
4 :
Liberal social agenda. If they actually spent time teaching history, students would vote Republican!
5 :
Exactly what Liberals want in public education. More dumbies to register to vote.
6 :
because they all illegal immigrants and mexican
7 :
doesn't surprise me
8 :
i think they kids are messing with them. i did when i was in high school.
9 :
I feel disappointed, how can kids from other countries must learn about the history of the United States of America in great detail, and be tested and expected to pass, and our own educational system be so dismissive of the importance of having well educated children. Well educated children=better, more responsible adults. I wouldn't rest all the blame on our educational system, we as parents should play an active part in our son's and daughter's education.
10 :
This is very sad. I hope a lot of people that claim that public schools is a socialist program and we should accept health care will read this and realize how bad the government does in running things. I see ignorance on here all the time. It makes me scared for my country. I see people who do not know what type of government we have and no very little to nothing about history. I see people asking what is wrong with socialism, people claiming that capitalism is the problem, and so on. Now I know why they think this way. They learned absolutely nothing in 12 years of public education.
11 :
EPIC FAIL
12 :
My thoughts? I see that 75% of the students in Oklahoma got left behind. Another Bush program that fell flat on its @$$. If that isn't screaming that we need more money into our education system, as well as higher standards to pass a grade and into the next, I don't know what is.

I live in Oklahoma and was watching the local news when this was brought to my attention. I was SHOCKED, APPALLED, and EMBARRESED to say the least. I mean how is that possible. I bet they never give that test again.
