That school is already built. http://www.ossm.edu/ Maybe your talking about the new "school of rock" that was just built in bricktown with the help of the flaming lips? http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr/content_display/music/news/e3i96d4521eedf15d13ae5b89f8d7b37942 Or perhaps you mean tulsa? http://www.tulsaworld.com/news/article.aspx?subjectid=19&articleid=20090529_19_A7_OLHMIY989414 Or maybe your even thinking of the summer program for the arts at Quartz mountain? http://www.oaiquartz.org/

I am looking for information about the haunting at he old Central High School in Oklahoma city?

I am looking for information about the haunting at he old Central High School in Oklahoma city?
I have read about it before. One of my friends husband used to work there and hated it because of the little boy that stayed crouched down in the stairwell and watched people. The building has not been used as a school for 20 something years now but I can't find the information on the haunting any more. Can any one point me in the right direction or tell me what you may know about the haunting? Thank you so much!!!

Google came up with nothing about a 'haunting' there. Are you sure it wasn't called something else back then?

What are some good, nursing schools in Oklahoma City?

What are some good, nursing schools in Oklahoma City?
Oklahoma State University Oklahoma City University University of Oklahoma University of Central Oklahoma Which school is the best for nursing? Which is the least competitive nursing program? I am coming all the way from California.

Speaking from my personal and family experience only, I would say that Oklahoma State University in Oklahoma City (obviously in Oklahoma City, OK) is one of the best programs in the state (at least as far as 2 year programs go). After that, it would probably be the University of Oklahoma's Health Science Center in Oklahoma City, OK or Oklahoma State University's Health Science Center in Tulsa, OK. My mom was in the third graduating class at Oklahoma State University in Oklahoma City (OSU-OKC) which was an AS in Nursing. Several years later, she got into the University of Oklahoma's Health Science Center program to get her BS in Nursing. I'm not sure if Oklahoma City University or the University of Central Oklahoma even have nursing programs, but Southern Nazarene University (in Bethany, OK) and Oklahoma Christian University in Edmond, OK may also have nursing programs because they are private colleges. As far as competition goes, I do know that you have to take at least one semester of regular classes at OSU-OKC before you can be accepted into their nursing program. But, on the same hand, if you have good scores and attendance and such, I never heard about many people being refused entirely from the program. Also, the advantage of going to a 2 year university and getting your RN as an Associates of Science means that you can go directly to work as an RN, then work your way through your Bachelors of Science while still earning a living from being an RN. Just a thought - although I didn't go in to nursing, I did a similar thing when I was in college, getting my 2 year degree then working through getting my 4 year degree. I would suggest that you write, call, or email the nursing departments at the various school in the areas you might like to live and have them send you information on their programs. Most of the staff members are very helpful and more than willing to answer questions about their programs. Also, last but not least, Oklahoma is a relatively economical place to live - so long as you have a car. We technically have a public transportation system, but it's much more of a joke than functional. As far as rent goes, you'd be looking at between $350-500, depending on what kind of place you were willing to settle for. Of course, there ARE places more expensive than that, if that is your kind of thing. I'll include a couple of links for OSU-OKC's nursing program, as well as a link to the Daily Oklahoman's classified section so you can sort of browse cost of living issues. Hope that helps! Good luck to you!!! -mk

How Are The Autism Services In Oklahoma City Schools and/or surrounding areas?
We have a 8 yr old son with high functioning autism. We will be moving to Oklahoma in May. We prefer the Shawnee or Oklahoma city are but are willing to live anywhere close to that if they have good services. Can you tell me where the best autism services in this area are? Best schools for autism? We want as much information as possible. Right now we live in Texas and our son is getting very good services and want to know what we are heading for. Thanks so much

All that I know is that my son who has PDD.NOS has a friend who is MFA (at that time he is now more high functioning) that lived in Oklahoma City till age 5 and the services were terrible because his parents think the services here in DE are great and they really aren't, they stink.

I am not sure about the services in OKC. You can contact the local okc autism chapter in okc . Their website is here http://www.asofok.org. I am sure someone their can give you good information. I live in the Mustang/Yukon area and I am not sure about the services in Mustang Schools but most people move to Mustang due to the school system and my neighbor 2 doors down has a special needs child who attends in the Mustang schools system and I believe her daughter is autistic. If you determine this may be a good area for you I am also trying to sell my home due to my family getting larger situation and offering a good deal on it because I am moving out in 45 days and it will be empty . You can see the home I have at www.2108dogwood.com and if you like what you see you can also contact the school at http://www.mustangps.org/specialeducation.html or call Debbie Beel at 405-376-2461 or who is the director. Hope this info helps...Dustin Merryfield contact me at :merryfim@msn.com

I live just a couple of blocks from OCU. The university neighborhood is, to be honest, not the safest or cleanest. You are definitely right to be asking, there are a lot of dangerous blocks in the area. Generally, I would recommend that you find a place north of 33rd St. if possible. There are some large apartment complexes at 30th and McKinley where some students live. These look okay, but beware! It's so dangerous that Pizza Hut won't deliver there even though it's very close. I would consider on campus housing, although that can be a drag when you're married. On 34th St. on up into the 40s, there are some wonderful, large old houses which rent and very low rates. There are many wonderful historic homes and wonderful people here. The odd thing about this neighborhood is that literally you can have millionaires in one block and drug houses in the next. It's usually pretty obvious which one you're in from looking, though. I love the neighborhood if you can't tell, but you do have to exercise some caution. Turn your porchlight on, get to know your neighbors and don't leave anything in the front yard. There are many Asian businesses, including two groceries and many Vietnamese restaurants along Classen Blvd just east of campus. These are very interesting to explore as people from many different countries mix in this area. I don't know how many Mormons there are in the city, but I believe there is a large congregation on the north side. From what I have seen, Mormons are well accepted in the community.

Contact the school district, sit in on the school board meetings, and ask A LOT of questions to everyone in the city (ie. neighbors, beauty salon, they love to talk, any small business in the area.) Everyone will have an comment and hopefully they will help!
2 :
I would go the the school district offices, and ask lots of questions. Ask to see the school's "report card", or ranking based on standardized state tests. Ask when board meetings will be held, and attend those. Ask for a zoning map for the district schools (elementary, jr. high, and high schools). How many of their HS graduates go on to college? How many receive academic scholarships? Are there any SAT/ACT average scores available? Then I would speak to as many people as possible in the area. People will talk about the schools more than the school district offices. Ask them which schools people want their kids to go to. Which ones are magnet schools, or geared to a specific area like math, science, the arts, etc. I hope this helps. Good luck!!!

Oklahoma city high school hockey team?
Now that the blazers are gone I am having quite a bit of trouble finding a High school hockey team (not schools with a hockey team; high school age hockey team) to join next semester, unless the seasons are over till next year. Are there any high school hockey teams in existence in the Oklahoma city or Edmond area? If so, what are they?
