Contact the school district, sit in on the school board meetings, and ask A LOT of questions to everyone in the city (ie. neighbors, beauty salon, they love to talk, any small business in the area.) Everyone will have an comment and hopefully they will help!

I would go the the school district offices, and ask lots of questions. Ask to see the school's "report card", or ranking based on standardized state tests. Ask when board meetings will be held, and attend those. Ask for a zoning map for the district schools (elementary, jr. high, and high schools). How many of their HS graduates go on to college? How many receive academic scholarships? Are there any SAT/ACT average scores available? Then I would speak to as many people as possible in the area. People will talk about the schools more than the school district offices. Ask them which schools people want their kids to go to. Which ones are magnet schools, or geared to a specific area like math, science, the arts, etc. I hope this helps. Good luck!!!
