My friend dropped out of Highschool last year and he's now 17 and wanting to go back but school board sent him to an alternative school where you can build up enough credits to go back to highschool.They sent him to a MetroTech community college and he never got a call back.Is there any form of Online Schooling where he can finish highschool?

Absolutely, He should look for the Digital Learning Commons, Odyseyware, Utah Schools online or Oregon State online learning. The first one is a broker for several online High School and college courses that can be taken online. All are acredited so the credits would transfer to any high school and are accepted by by all major trade schools, colleges and universities when he wants to apply there.

He needs to call the place again; there could have been some mix up, he didn't fill his phone number in correctly, it didn't get typed into the database correctly... You don't just give up because a school didn't call back. That's kind of like calling a garage to find out the status of your vehicle and then looking to buy another car because they don't call back! Now, online schooling may still be preferable for him, but he should find out what is going on with MetroTech regardless. Yeah, there are a few. I use Penn Foster High School. It's a distance learning school. They send you your books in the mail and you complete them. Penn Foster is a private school, so it costs money. It's $900, but it's cheaper if you send them your transcripts. Since your friend dropped out, it is very unlikely that they will allow them back into the school system. Going to a community college to earn enough credits to go back to highschool will only slow your friend down even more. Distance learning is the way to go.

He needs to go up to Metrotech and talk to a person, instead of waiting for a phonecall. Part of homeschooling is being proactive, and colleges especially aren't going to cater to people. I've had some friends go through metrotech, it's a good deal for getting a program. However, he probably does not want to do a GED program, if he'd get his parents to register him as a homeschooler, there are a TON of homeschooling groups in OKC.
